If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime
GlobalDrugSurvey have some useful videos on preventing drug use becoming problematic drug use.
Here they point out that what goes up must come down and ways to check on yourself to try to make sure that a hobby doesn’t become a full time job. Despite this ‘tough love’ approach, don’t forget that if things do get out of hand, you can get support from services.
Here they illustrate the idea of ‘start low, go slow’.
It’s always worth remembering that the active dose of some drugs is measured in the millionths of a gram (with LSD you might be in for a torrid time with much more than 100 micrograms), some in the thousandths (ecstasy tablets tend to contain around 100 milligrams of MDMA) and some in grams (very few, alcohol springs to mind – there are 8 grams in a UK unit).
It’s easy to take the wrong dose of the wrong drug if it’s just a white powder. In an unregulated market, you can’t always rely on your honest-to-goodness dealer types.
